Martigues, also known as the Venice of Provence, owes its popular nickname to one of its unique geographical features.

Criss-crossed by canals, the town offers a panorama that resembles a masterpiece. Colorful fishermen’s cottages and the ever-present fleet of pointus boats add to the town’s charm. Here, the colors blend with the blue of the sky and water, transporting passers-by on a unique sensory journey.
The district has inspired many painters, including F\u00e9lix Ziem, who set up his studio here.
Take a stroll and let yourself be carried away by this unique atmosphere.

Martigues also boasts a rich heritage: the church of Sainte-Madeleine, a fine example of Provencal Baroque architecture, the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-la-Mis\u00e9ricorde, which dominates the town and offers a superb panorama of the Etang de Berre, and the Fort de Bouc, which watches over the mouth of the Caronte canal.
Martigues is also renowned for its beaches and landscapes! And what a feast for the eyes!
